What Data We Collect
When you use RealBeef, we collect the following information:
- Email address — used for account creation and authentication. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the email address they share with us.
- Username — your chosen display name within the app.
- Game responses and answers — the answers you write to the daily prompt and in Party games, your votes and your reactions. If you record a voice answer, we store the audio clip.
- Profile picture — the character you pick. RealBeef does not use your camera or your photos.
- Push notification tokens — used to deliver timely notifications about game events.
- Device information — basic device metadata to ensure app compatibility and diagnose issues. We do not collect your location, and our analytics discard your IP address.
- Usage data — which screens you open and which features you use, to understand how the game is played.
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used for the following purposes:
- Gameplay — processing your answers, managing group memberships, calculating points and rankings, and running the daily game and Party games.
- Notifications — sending push notifications about new prompts, voting phases, and results.
- Content moderation — reviewing submissions to ensure they comply with our community guidelines and terms of service.
- Product improvement — measuring which features people use. In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, we collect usage data only after you agree to it in the app.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Your data is shared only with the following service providers, which process data solely on our behalf:
- Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and real-time services, in the EU (Ireland).
- Apple and Google — sign you in when you choose Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google.
- RevenueCat — manages in-app subscriptions and processes purchase receipts through the Apple App Store. RevenueCat does not receive your payment details directly — billing is handled by Apple.
- Sentry — collects crash reports and error diagnostics, including your account ID, device metadata and stack traces, to help us identify and fix bugs. Hosted in the EU.
- PostHog — product analytics (EU cloud), tied to your account ID. In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, only after you agree to it in the app.
- Resend — sends our emails, including your sign-in codes.
- Expo — delivers push notifications to your device using your push notification token.
Each provider processes your data in accordance with their own privacy policies and applicable data protection laws.
Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account remains active. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Settings → Delete account) or by contacting us at the email address below. Deleting your account removes your profile and your game data: your answers, voice clips, votes, reactions and points. A group you created passes to another member, so your friends keep their group.
Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Deletion — you can request that we delete your account and associated data.
- Portability — you can request your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
Children's Privacy
RealBeef is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us at the email address below.
Tracking & Advertising
RealBeef does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do not use advertising identifiers, and we do not display third-party advertisements. No data is shared with data brokers or advertising networks.
In-App Purchases
RealBeef offers optional paid subscriptions. All billing and payment processing is handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information (credit card numbers, billing address, etc.). Subscription management and purchase history are processed by RevenueCat on our behalf.
